2023 Oakland County Links Scholarships
For 40 years the Oakland County (MI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated has actively worked to enrich the lives of those we serve in Oakland County. We are committed to the well-being of the African American community, conduct service projects to improve the community, and empower the leaders of tomorrow by providing academic scholarships. We are one of 288 Links chapters worldwide, members of one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of professional women of color.
The Oakland County Links award need-based scholarships to Black students pursuing undergraduate degrees or enrolled in a certificate program. Students are recognized for their leadership capacity, community service, and academic success. Through the generosity of our donors, we are pleased to provide these financial opportunities in support of deserving students with financial need as they pursue their educational endeavors.
Our scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors and to past awardees who are currently enrolled in a two or four-year academic program, or in a certificate program.
Scholarships range from $500 to $2000 and may cover books, tuition and/or stipends. Preference will be given to students majoring in a science, technology, engineering, art or math STEAM program.
• Applicant is either a graduating high school senior, or a past recipient of our scholarship who graduated from the Pontiac or Southfield school system within the last 48 months.
• Applicant is enrolled in a two or four-year college or university program, or in a certificate program for skilled trades, healthcare or technology, beginning no later than fall 2023.
• Applicant demonstrates financial need.
Applicants must complete the online application located on our website, www.oaklandcountylinks.org. The application period begins February 19 and ends on March 27. Scholarship recipients will be announced by the end of April.
The Oakland County Links wish all applicants a tremendous collegiate or apprenticeship experience, and hope that our scholarships will help advance their efforts as they prepare themselves for long-term success. To be certain that we reach these young achievers, we ask you to please forward this email and the attached flyer to your counselors, faculty, and to feel free to post on your website and bulletin boards.
